Programs for Teachers and Students

CERTIFICATE OF MERIT - a comprehensive study program for students involving music theory, performance, technic, and ear training, culminating in a scheduled adjudicated testing.

BAROQUE FESTIVAL - an adjudicated local series of recitals featuring the music of J.S. Bach. Students are chosen by adjudicators to continue participating in other activities of the Southern California Junior Bach Festival.

ROMANTIC FESTIVAL, SONATINA/SONATA FESTIVAL, LATIN MUSIC FESTIVAL - we alternate between these adjudicated events each year. Students play selected repertoire and are critiqued by two judges. Those who receive 'superior' rating receive a trophy.

JAZZ/POP FESTIVAL - adjudicated event featuring students who perform jazz or pop arrangements in a recital setting.

IMPROVISATION & COMPOSERS TODAY PROGRAMS - adjudicated programs to encourage creativity and exploration of musical themes.

SELECT STUDENT RECITALS - to allow our more advanced students to perform several pieces in a chamber music setting. Honoraria are presented to the performers.

"CHRISTMAS AT Barnes & Noble bookstore" - our annual Christmas recital.

ANNUAL TEACHERS RECITAL - to showcase our teacher members. 

MSSL RECITALS - The Music Student Service League consists of Jr High and High School students who perform at nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

ADULT SEMINAR- a program for teachers and students, college age and above; Performance evaluations and master classes are open to all instruments and voice.

CALIFORNIA PLAN - a self-study educational program to enhance teaching skills.

BAKERSFIELD SYMPHONY VOUCHERS - students of teacher-members receive vouchers that allow them and a parent to attend symphony concerts for $5 per person.
